The inspiration for ART.Cy was that of Philip Ammerman, the co-founder of Navigator Consulting & Innovation Partners. Navigator is a consultancy specialising in investment advisory and digital innovation.
The original idea was to develop a non-technical art event and dialogue in Cyprus that would reflect the amazing art history, culture and achievements of Cyprus at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Sea.
Given the dominance of digital media and the digital share of attention today, it seemed a logical way to remind ourselves that the metaverse we spend so much time in is counterbalanced by the 11,000 years of human scale art and achievement.

And so, the idea of ART.Cy was born, in 2019. It was clear that this had to be both an annual event as well as a year-long initiative to emphasize and promote art in all its forms.

It would take two further years of COVID and two years after that for life to return to a semblance of normalcy for Navigator to finally launch the event. Work started in the summer of 2024, with the invaluable support of Aina Judyte.

Along the way, we have received invaluable support from a number of organisations and individuals who feel the same way we do. Besides expressing our gratitude, the names of our supporters and patrons will be published on this website in time.

Please join us on our journey.

The most beautiful emotion we can experience is the mystical. It is the power of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their most primitive forms.
